Opening in 1890, the Fourth Rail Bridge was the largest manmade and most contemporary construction of its time having been the first bridge constructed purely of steel. The 8,296ft long bridge cost £3 million to build and took a staggering seven years to construct, with engineers Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker assisted by task force of 5000 workers over the years.

Opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1964, when it was the largest suspension bridge in Europe, the Forth Road Bridge is over two and a half kilometres long. The world-famous structure was designed with slenderness and elegance in mind and demonstrates the high level of architectural and engineering talent displayed across Scotland.

These bridges are encompassed in all tours in the east coast of Scotland. You experience a full view of the two bridges as you pass over the new Queensferry Crossing which runs on the west side of the Forth Road Bridge.

Standing tall on the summit of Abbey Craig, the Wallace Monument tower commemorates William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish hero. The 220-foot sandstone tower, designed in Victorian Gothic style, was built in the 19th century in the location where William Wallace was said to have watched the gathering of the army of England’s King Edward I, before the battle of Stirling Bridge.

The Wallace National Monument epitomises the unique history of Scotland and gives you the chance to enjoy the expansive views of the Ochil Hills and Forth Valley, an essential for visitors to Scotland.
