Edinburgh Castle

Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Palace of Holyroodhouse, commonly referred to as Holyrood Palace, is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, Queen Elizabeth II. Located at the bottom of the Royal Mile, at the opposite end to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace has served as the principal residence of the Kings and Queens of Scots since the 16th century, and is a setting for state occasions and official entertaining.
With parts of the palace sometimes open to the public and surrounded by the elegant Holyrood Park, Holyroodhouse is an attraction worth visiting when exploring Edinburgh.

The New Town
To the north, between the castle and the Firth of the Forth, you get your first glimpse of Edinburgh’s new town – still holding its name, even though it was created in the eighteenth century. The largest area of Georgian architecture in Europe, the New Town, is brimming with gracious squares and tree-lined crescents.
The New Town, one of Britain’s architectural gems, remains the living heart of city, a must-see stop whilst touring Edinburgh.

Royal Yacht Britannia
For over forty years The Royal Yacht Britannia served the royal family, travelling for over one million miles to become the world’s most famous ship. Travelling to every corner of the globe, in a career spanning 968 royal and official visits, she played a leading role in some of the defining moments of recent world history.

Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel, famous for its acknowledgement in Dan Brown’s ‘The Da Vinci Code’, is touted as being one of the most mysterious places in Scotland. Once known as the Collegiate Chapel of St Mathew, the church was founded in 1446 by Sir William St Clair in the village of Roslin, Midlothian.
This remarkable building is steeped in history and untold secrets, a must-see attraction when touring Edinburgh.

Scotland’s new parliament sits at the foot of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags. Constructed from a mixture of steel, oak and granite, the complex building has been hailed as one of the most innovative designs in Britain today.
